the pajama pant: major or minor trend report

Ahh yes the printed silk pant aka the pajama pant... Dolce and Gabbana tried so desperately to encourage this trend for Spring 2009, unfortunately it was styled like...well...pajamas. Lucky for us, the fashion world did not completely give up on the trend and this year's September issues were packed with updated, well dressed printed silk pants.  The 1970's seems to be the key behind the success of this micro trend, worn with tuck in tanks, knits with mismatched patterns and trench coats. Add a satchel leather bag and wedged boots and you have mastered the ability to wear a pajama pant to work. Predicting this trend will hit big in early spring. . We shall see if bloggers and celebrities take on this trend to...and don't wear it like...pajamas.

RAG AND BONE SP 2012

After the fitted french terry pant became a part of every fashion hounds work wardrobe post Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 show, I thought the athletic pant trend would die hard left only be seen in gyms and saturday morning farmers markets, however designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright have proven me wrong, so so wrong. Showing Rag and Bone's collection today in New York, the designer duo walked tuxedo track pants and fitted (perfectly) nylon drawstring pants down the runway. Matched with the neons nylon bottoms with white sheer button up and mesh tops, all to be tops off with tweed blazers and space dyed cardigans. Also notable details: neon pipping on clutches, sandals and ponchos (nylon).

Over all fabric trends for spring 2012/13: sheen, shine (nylon, tencel, filment rayons or polyster), sheer white tops, chunky space dyes, tweed (continued from fall), neon colors, neon pipping.

After seeing this collection for the first time in September, I knew stripes would never been the same. With the large automatic repeats mixed with the bright pantones, this collection has been highly influential for spring 2011 trends. Oscar nominee Haliee Steinfeld  wore the top middle dress (altered to a knee length) to the SAG awards last month, and several editors have been spotted in this collection in Milan and Paris.

SPRING 11

Colors for Spring 11' and pictures to describe them. I am super excited to see bright colors for Spring and Summer.  Although the economy is still in jeopardy, the optimistic changes in designer's pallets are lighting up magazines and the blogsphere.
